Lets talk about the Illuminage Skin Smoothing Laser….
Previously limited to multiple appointments at the dermatologist’s office, laser cosmetic treatment has now been made truly accessible thanks to the experts at illuminage. From hair removal to anti-aging, the advanced, clinically-tested collection offers professional results in the comfort of your own home.
Gadget Focus: Anti-Aging
Heralding a new age of anti-aging skincare, the iluminage Skin Smoothing Laser™ is the first clinically proven in-home laser device to reduce fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes and mouth. Delivering pulses of light to the dermis layer of the skin, it triggers the body’s natural responses to generate new collagen fibres for improved firmness and elasticity. With 95% of women in clinical trials seeing a significant improvement in just 12 weeks, it just might be the youth-boosting fix you’ve been searching for.
How To Use:
The iluminage Skin Smoothing Laser™ consists of two lightweight, ultra-sleek and user-friendly components: the slim, curved laser hand piece and a matching charging base. The hand piece fits comfortably and securely in your hand for maximum control, giving safe, easy, targeted placement during treatment. For best results, use on clean, dry skin, five times a week in the evening, to treat wrinkles around the eyes and mouth
I used this laser early this year for the full 12 weeks. I’m pretty happy overall with my skin, except unfortunately I was a sun worshipper in my teens, wore NO sunglasses (squinted like crazy), and man, its been a struggle getting my eyes back to a smooth texture. I remember in my early 20s having lines… thats how much I baked in the sun.
I digress…. so anyhoo, I used this laser for the full 12 weeks earlier in the year. In full disclosure I also was on a great skin regime, with some great products, and using Retin-A at night and Vitamin C in the morning. I think great products are half the battle.
Basically, with this laser, I used it full face at night, on high power which takes about 10 minutes. I then used it in the morning around my eyes, since that is my focus area, which takes less than 3 minutes. You will have some pink dots, especially when you are new to using this laser, and they start to subside after about 12 hours. Any by pink dots, I mean, it looks like you have mini mumps. I would definitely recommend doing just the laser at night when you first start, to be on the safe side, if you have any kind of job or need to be in the public.
It feels like a hot rubber band snapping against your skin, but nothing untolerable….. like giving birth, or being drug across hot pavement with no clothes on…just sayin. ; )
Just a little hot snap, and you move to the next area.
I kept mine on high power the entire time, because I think, go hard, or go home… ya know?
So I have to say, after three months my eyes were looking pretty fresh McFresh…. and I weaned myself off the illuminage but kept up with my skin care regime.
I was in Mexico last week, and was like “dannnng, I look like 10 years older” all of a sudden. So I have to say, I’m back on the illuminage. I will be in full on laser mode again, and will be back to let you know how it goes, but as of now …. YES I’m convinced this laser works, but I would say if you stop using it, you will regress back.
I’ll be back with a second laser review here in 8 weeks, kids.
I’m curious, if you guys have used anything for your fine eye lines that has worked. I’m always down to try new products, and would love to hear your suggestions!
